Pieced Linen Patchwork Worshop

with Janet Hackney

Janet Hackney will give a Pieced Linen Patchwork Workshop on Saturday 25th March in the gallery. Participants will create either a small quilt or cushion using simple machine stitching techniques. If you chose the to work on the cushion cover the planned finished piece will fit a 45xm x 45cm cushion. If you want a different sized cover please let Janet the dimensions at the start of the workshop.    

All linen fabric will be provided along with repurposed wool for wadding.

Please note - participants will need to provide their own sewing machine, cutting tools, threads etc. 

Artist bio

Janet she has taught art, needlework and textiles in schools in England, Malawi and Northern Ireland. An active member of the N.I. Embroidery Guild since 2000, she has exhibited with them throughout Northern Ireland. In 2017 at the invite of the New Zealand Embroiderers’ Guild she gave several talks and workshops on her textile work and techniques on the North Island. In recent years Janet has also developed her costume design skills working collaboratively with other artists in community projects and, in particular, with the National Trust at Castle Ward designing and making Georgian costumes.
