Offerings

Lucy Brown: 1 February - 23 March 2018

Lucy Brown uses a mixed palette of old, unwanted clothing, hair and domestic related textile items as raw materials. Her work often departs from personal or collective experiences and explores themes around the body, femaleness, re-invention, textile histories and craft-labour.  ‘Offerings’ brings together new and existing works from 2010-2017, including woven anti-form sculpture and hair-works. Some of these works have never been publically shown and have remained in their ‘studio limbo state’. R-Space Gallery will become a platform for finalizing the unfinished works as Lucy will continue to work on site inside R-Space Gallery until 28th February 2018.

‘Offerings’ is also unveiling the following newly written essay by Professor Catherine Harper, University of Chichester, 2018.

Lucy Brown would like to greatly and sincerely thank Professor Catherine Harper for writing ‘secrets she keeps from herself’, for Offerings at R-Space Gallery.
