These workshops are part of Heather’s solo show Emerging Reality – a rogue butterfly which continues to 3 February. Open Tuesday to Saturday 11am to 5pm. Admission free.

Film Makers

This article was posted on January 04, 2017

For August Craft Month 2016 five NI makers were invited to produce new work in response to heritage footage from Northern Ireland Screen’s Digital Film Archive. Sharon Adams, Sheena Devitt, Nicola Gates, Alison Fitzgerald and Ronan Lowery each created new works spanning heritage, functional and conceptual outcomes, which formed the Film Makers exhibition.

In this free talk, participant Sharon Adams discusses how the project pushed all five makers to take risks in their respective practices, and shows both the films that inspired the work and new footage that recorded their processes.

The project was curated by R-Space Gallery and partly funded by both the BFI and ACNI.

Form, Function & Food

3 to 30 September 2016

R-Space Gallery invites proposals for a group exhibition entitled Form Function & Food presented in response to Northern Ireland’s Year of Food and Drink 2016. The theme for the month of September is Bread and Baking, so we particularly encourage submissions relevant to that subject area.

The exhibition will include both functional and conceptual works. Makers are sought who use diverse materials, have a specific message to convey and use distinct production methods. Both emerging and established artists/makers are invited to apply from any location.

The exhibition will be accompanied by an artists’ supper with the aim of encouraging critical discussion around craft production in Northern Ireland. Subject to approval of our current funding application, we will have a budget for transport and a modest participation fee.

Please send image(s) of your proposed work(s), CV (1 page max) and Artist Statement to Robert Martin to arrive by  12 noon Friday 15 July 2016.

If you are interested, please email us at with details of your proposal and your artist CV which should include details of other workshops you have delivered.
